New USF basketball coach buys waterfront home in Tampa

The new coach of the University of South Florida’s men’s basketball team — whose contract is worth $6.58 million over six years — has purchased a waterfront home in Tampa.

Brian Gregory and his wife, Yvette, paid $1.75 million for a 6,768-square-foot home on the water in Bay Port Colony, south of Hillsborough Avenue and north of the Courtney Campbell Causeway, according to Hillsborough County property records.

The sellers, Juan and Helda Rodriguez, paid $890,000 for the home in 2005. The list price was $1.89 million and marketed as “designed for entertaining, inside and out.”

Jennifer Zales, an agent with Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate in Tampa, marketed the home for sale, according to the listing.

Zales declined comment. A USF spokesman was not immediately available for comment Thursday.
