  • Caspers’ acquisition of historic Bayshore estate is top residential sale in Tampa history

    By Ashley Gurbal Kritzer  – Senior Reporter, Tampa Bay Business Journal Tampa's Casper family officially owns the historic Bayshore estate that they plan to convert to a private social club. The Caspers' $9.5 million acquisition of the Stovall-Lee estate, at 4621 Bayshore Blvd., is the highest priced home sale in Tampa history and the third highest for all of Pinellas and Hillsborough counties. The deal closed Monday. A home in Belleair sold for $11.2 million in April 2017; a Belleair property fetched $10.25 million in 2007. Jennifer Zales, an agent with Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate in Tampa, brokered the transaction between the Caspers and the seller, Harry E.   • Tampa Bay homes prices soar by double-digits in January

    By Susan Taylor Martin- Tampa Bay Times Home prices soared in Pinellas and Hillsborough counties in January, the highest gains in several months. Prices for single family homes also rose in Hernando and Pasco as the shortage of available homes showed no immediate sign of easing. The bay area market reflected a broader trend of rising prices and sluggish sales. "The utter lack of sufficient housing supply muted overall sales activity in much of the U.S. last month," said Lawrence Yun, chief economist for the National Association of Realtors. "It’s very clear that too many markets right now are becoming less affordable and desperately need more new listings to calm down the speedy price growth." Nationally, prices for existing homes — houses, condos and townhomes — rose 5.8 percent in January compared to a year earlier but sales plunged by 4.8 percent, the biggest decline in more than three years.…
